From silkworm, cocoon to silk. Long way to beautiful Kimono

Silk is important product in Japan.  In 19th century it used to be largely exported to wastern countires.  The great money resulted from  silk trade was significant financial resource in order to proceed modernization of Japan.  Kyoto is one of the silk producing places in Japan.  Here is interesting exhibit room how to make a silk thread from a cocoon.  One cocoon produces 1 kilometer long thread.  It's amazing !   From worm to beautiful kimono, it takes long time what's more tough work.  After getting to know how to silk clothes, it is more fun to see Kimono fashion show on a stage !   How about visiting off the beaten spots in Kyoto together ?
