Kyoto Garden Tour

I guided foreign tourists for the first time in 2 years.

They requested me to visit Saihoji Temple and Nijo Castle.

【SAIHOJI TEMPLE】

Another popular name is "Moss Temple."

Moss Garden

The garden has very beautiful green mosses. Sunshine is filtering through leaves, which made us peaceful and calm atmosphere and relax.

Trees planted on the island look like the wing of a crane.

Trinity rock of Shakamuni Buddha

 We copied Buddhist sutras.

【TENRYUJI  TEMPLE】

Tenryuji literally means Heavenly Dragon Temple.

Dry Landscape Garden

We see the garden at the entrance of the temple.  Buddhist priests make lines using bamboo grooms to express the flow of water.Sogenchi Garden

This garden was designed by Muso Soseki, s Buddhist priest.  Actually he designed Saihoji moss garden.

Rock Construction represents dragon waterfall.  A carp is trying to climb up the waterfall.

Beautiful Flowers

Various kinds of flowers are beautifully blooming.

azalea (kobano-mitsuba-tsutsuji)

( rhododendron )

(double-flowered cherry blossom)

【NIJO CASTLE】

Tokugawa Ieyasu built Nijo Castle as the residence of Tokugawa family.

Ninomaru Garden

is a stroll-type garden.  Originally there were no trees in the garden because leaves of trees fall some day. It associates death, so samurai didn't want to see leaves falling.

【FUSHIMI  IMARI  TAISHA】

Lastly I took guests to this shrine, one of the most popular scenic spots by foreigners, in Japan.  However under pandemic few people visit the shrine these days.  I hope a lot of foreign tourists visit Japan sooner.

(1,000 Torii Gates)

If you have an interest in Japanese gardens,  please let me know.  I can show you a lot of Japanese gardens.
